Crossley Transport Planning was engaged by Transport for NSW to undertake a Movement and Place assessment of the Princes Highway corridor between Hawken Road and Sussex Inlet Road as part of the Princes Highway Upgrade Program. The study assessed three proposed alignment options to inform strategic decisions around safety, connectivity, and place outcomes. Under the leadership of Stephanie Crossley, the project established a shared vision of “a safe and reliable corridor that connects people and enables places to thrive” through collaborative vision-setting workshops with key stakeholders. The assessment considered conditions within the corridor as well as broader spatial scales, referred to as the “area of influence,” to capture both network-level implications and localised place impacts.

The project involved reviewing background material, applying the Movement and Place framework, and facilitating stakeholder workshops to co-develop Do-Minimum and Do-Something scenarios. Healthy Streets principles and public space audits were incorporated to evaluate user experience and place quality. Following the completion of the corridor study, CrossleyTP was commissioned to expand the scope and conduct a dedicated Movement and Place assessment for the village of Tomerong, located north of the corridor. This additional study applied the same vision-led and evidence-based approach to identify opportunities and challenges at a local scale, ensuring Tomerong’s character and access needs were integrated into the broader corridor strategy.
