Transport for NSW is planning to construct additional south-facing entry and exit ramps to improve connectivity between Dapto and the M1 Princes Motorway. These ramps are intended to reduce travel distances and save time for residents of Dapto and nearby suburbs. In February 2024, Transport for NSW presented three potential ramp locations to the community and conducted a consultation involving 17 questions. Approximately 2,000 responses were received, aiming to gather insights into the demographics of respondents, identify potential beneficiaries and their expected ramp usage, assess perceptions of efficiency and time-saving benefits, understand projected usage frequency, and determine preferred ramp locations along with the reasoning behind those preferences.

CrossleyTP was engaged by Transport for NSW to analyse the community consultation results and deliver findings in a clear and accessible format. The project involved a comprehensive analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data, with a particular focus on community attitudes toward the proposed ramp locations. Advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques were employed to interpret open-ended responses and sentiment. The analysis was supported by a suite of tools including GIS applications for spatial insights, PowerBI for interactive visualisations, and Python programming for data processing and custom analytics. The outcome of this work will inform Transport for NSW’s decision-making process, ensuring that community feedback plays a central role in shaping the final design and location of the new ramps.
